     SOME TEACHING VIEWS

I .   I am to see clearly, teach clearly, and students are to have clear notes.  ("If the eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light." Jesus  [Matthew 6:22])

II .  I am to use the gifts given to me to build up and not to tear down.

III . I will teach you things that I know and evaluate to see if you know them.

A .     There are objective things to learn that you will be objectively tested over.

B .     The grade that you make is to be a true indicator of the level of understanding that you have about what was taught in the course...not that you were in a group with someone that knew something and you got their grade.  It is also not to mean that you are a skilled talker and talked the teacher into giving you a grade that gives the image that you know something when you in reality do not.

C .     I will teach and evaluate in a way that encourages faithfulness, conscientiousness, effective working, and diligent study all through the course; my ways are intended to discourage intermittent, frantic studying at the end with pleas to give you a grade that gives the image that you know something when you really do not.

IV .   You are to have root in yourself (Mark 4:17) as a student to study effectively, just as I am to have root in myself to effectively do my job.

V .     Dramatic Change for good can occur in you.  "Do not let the experience of the past and the fear of tomorrow stop the power of today."  Philip Derber
